Deidara ate his Detonation Clay to expose C4 Karura. C4 Karura is a bomb in a giant Deidara form. The giant Deidara disintegrates into super tiny, nano-sized explosives too small for the naked eye to see. These nano-sized explosives are released or dispersed in the air or atmosphere. A living body will die if it inhales these tiny explosives. It will set-off internally in every part of a living body, destroying its cells.
Deidara thought he saw Sasuke die when he used C4 Karura but it was only an illusion or genjutsu set by Sasuke. However, Deidara was prepared to face sharingan, and so he escaped the illusion by closing his own left eye. Deidara has been training his left eye to counter sharingan ever since he met Itachi.

On the other hand, Sasuke thought he trapped Deidara with his illusion. He attacked Deidara with his chidori. But what he attacked was Deidara’s clone. Deidara caught Sasuke from under and trapped him inside a bomb sphere. The sphere later exploded.
However, Sasuke escaped by running chidori or lightning chakra through his body. Deidara’s jutsu is performed by forming earth seals. Earth style jutsu is weak against Sasuke’s lightning techniques. For that reason, Sasuke escaped from inside the bomb sphere.
Deidara again thought Sasuke exploded with the bomb sphere but was only an illusion. Then, Sasuke attacked Deidara from behind.
Both were so worn out, there are a few chakra energies left in them. Deidara decided to kill Sasuke by detonating himself, killing both of them. Deidara has a mouth on his chest similar to the mouths on his palm. Deidara fed the mouth on his chest with clay and then Deidara transformed. Deidara transformed from white, to cracked brown, to light brown, to almost invisible.
